Prague.
Mrs Lato and I went there a few years back for 3 nights. Stayed at The Hotel Duo which is a 4 star. Its around 40 Minutes from the Airport and around 20 Minutes from the City Centre. Tube station and bus stop into the City 2 minutes from the Hotel. A 3-day travel card cost (then) 11 quid each. Unlimited use for Tube, Bus and Tram.

I was in Prague this weekend for the derby. Absolutely lovely place, and cheaper than I remembered.
But the answer is still Budapest.

Actually I'm drawn towards Malaga. It's south enough to be reasonably warm, and you can fly direct from Newcastle, which is handy.

I've said this before lots of time. But Anywhere in the North of Spain. I live in Coruña (Galicia) and can honestly say it's spectacular. Asturias, Basque Country, all the way to Catalonia. Wonderful places Great people and fantastic food. Couldn't recommend it more.
